 Functional camera kit backpack September 4, 2010

Very nice and functional backpack, well designed to serve the traveler aficionado photographer. I use it to carry my Canon rebel kit with three lenses including a telephoto, a Canon powershot, a Samsung mini DVD camcorder, battery chargers, spare batteries and memories, accessories, 2 mini tripods, cables, and media... all of that easily and safely packed.
On the downside, I have two minor complains: the exterior design does not provide a monopod/tripod attachment which is quite inconvenient; plus it would be great to have an exterior rainproof bag which becomes handy to protect against rain and undesired hands trying to unexpectedly get into the bag while using public transportation very common in the EU and large metropolitan cities.

If you have an SLR camera and all the fun "toys" that go along with it (lenses, flashes, filters, battery packs, etc.), then you know how nice it can be to have reliable, compact and efficient storage and transportation for those items and the camera!
This bag does a great job for me. I will first tell you my situation, then spell out my LIKES and DISLIKES (if any).
I am a casual photographer, who does a fair amount of traveling. I take photos with my SLR purely for personal use (family, architecture in new cities, vacations, domestic & foreign travel, etc., etc.). When I want to take enough SLR gear in order to have the flexbility I will need in a variety of photograph settings, I need a way to safely and easily transport all that gear. This Canon bag does the job, and it does so very well for me!
In my case, I have literally traveled around the globe with this bag, and have never had any problems with the bag or with gear getting damaged while inside the bag. And, it has handled everything I have thrown at it, in terms of my storage needs! I think that pretty much sums up my review, but here are my LIKES and DISLIKES if you wish to review them.
LIKES:
* My Canon Digital Rebel SLR fits perfectly
* Very flexible interior to handle lots of different gear. The compartments are separated with several thick foam pads, which can be relocated simply by undoing the velcro where it is attached and re'velcroing it elsewhere.
* Lots of room for the SLR camera body, several lenses, flash, even a camcorder along with all that other stuff, if needed!
* Bag is very well-cushioned. The cushioning material used is very high quality. It is dense cushioning (to provide superb protection), but still soft.
* In the top main flap (the flap that closes down over the camera gear compartment), there are 3 good-sized and functional storage areas, each with their own zippered closure system.
* There are also pockets on both sides of the backpack for even more storage of miscellaneous items.
* Handles are strong and secure.
* Zippers are of very high quality, and zip smoothly and effortlessly.
* Backpack straps are very thick and comfortable....also very strong!
* There are hook on the botton of the bag to attach other items, such as a tripod, etc.!
* I have been caught outside in light rain with this bag, and it seemed to repel water very well.
DISLIKES:
The only thing I can think of is the word "Canon" on the bag. It announces to the world that this bag contains camera gear, which may make you a target for a theft.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else. I LOVE this bag!

My boyfriend got this for me for our anniversary before we went on vacation. The main reason we chose this bag was because someone had posted a picture with a 12inch laptop in the front pocket. I own a 13 inch so I was hoping I could swing putting my laptop in here with my camera so I could cut down on baggage space. And sure enough it fit! A little snug and kindof hard to zip at first, but it did the trick for vacation. I dont think I would suggest doing this all the time because it put a lot of strain on the zipper and made the bag very heavy.
I wore this all week while we were out and when only the camera and its accessories were in it it was very comfortable only causing a few minor problems for me because the straps werent as cushy as I normally try to find due to my back problems. But I was able to tough it out.
There is so much space in this bag its unbelievable. I had room for my camera stuff plus my iphone, cellphone, a gameboy, various chargers, and some cleaning stuff. And all of that was in the main compartment. I had some snacks in the front pocket most of the time.
I would most definitely recommend this product :]

Great bag with ample space (more than what I need but will soon grow into)! Use it to store my EOS 7D with EFS 17-55mm, f/2.8 attached + SDHC cards, filters, AV cables, battery charger, manuals, water bottle with enough space left over to also store my Canon point & shoot SD 980 and its batter charger, a Sony MiniDV Handycam + battery charger etc. Easy to carry. Only downside is that the EOS 7D sits right on top - making the bag top heavy and so have to be careful when unzipping the bag.
